aLlison ward, education director
I have loved learning ever since my second grade teacher took our class out to the playground to teach a math lesson, which centered around imagining a T-rex sitting there with us while we tried to use our imaginary yard sticks and ladders to measure his height. Years later, I found a journal entry that I wrote in the second grade which expressed my desire to “be a teacher when I grow up.” Since then, I have explored teaching and learning to the best of my ability. Most recently I have completed a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in school leadership, and am currently working on completing my clear administrative credential for the California Teaching Commission. In addition to serving as a fourth grade teacher for over six years and other experiences in the general classroom setting, I have ten years of K-8 music teaching experience, as well as k-5 Spanish. I’m married to an amazing seventh grade history teacher, Tom, and am a mom to two grown up children, Tommy & Priscilla. Exercise, particularly jogging, keeps me happy and healthy, and I love spending time in the kitchen cooking with fresh produce. I love watching my daughter play soccer, and listening to my son play his bass and guitar. I also love to play piano for my church.
