PhilosophyWe believe that learning is a life-long adventure. We believe in the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore, to imagine, and to create. We believe that success means doing our best, being our best, and feeling proud of our effort. We believe that every one of us has special talents, and that the talents of each one of us helps all of us. We believe in ourselves and in each other. We believe that learning best occurs in a safe and nurturing environment where the school forms close ties with the students, parents and community members.

The CommunityOur small Nord community, including the large surrounding agricultural area, places a high value on education. Community members volunteer at the school and at our fundraising events. Our community is comprised of many different ethnicities. Nord Country School will be open to all students and will not discriminate against any student on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, gender or disability. The admission to Nord Country School will not be determined according to the student’s place of residence.

The TeachersNord Country School teachers believe that education is a joyful, active process that encourages students to accept challenges, give their personal best, and learn from their mistakes. Our teachers are a highly qualified and dedicated group who care deeply about children and are responsive to the needs of individual students and families. Supported by new technologies and ideas, they are eager to consider fresh approaches and strategies to maintain high standards throughout the curriculum.

The Students and the ParentsMuch of the school’s philosophy lies in the knowledge that children with families that are involved in their child’s education are more successful academically. Families who attend Nord Country School are encouraged to volunteer their time and expertise at our school. Parents and staff support each other for the success of NCS. Each family is encouraged to volunteer and support NCS in many different ways, including assisting teachers in the classroom, driving on field trips, serving on our PTO board, or working on a committee. Supporting fundraising efforts and attending school functions are other opportunities for parents to contribute to their child’s education. Students will demonstrate the capacity and motivation to affirm the core values of the school community and to find success in a comprehensive and challenging program. Students will leave this school prepared to be responsible and productive citizens.
