Education Protection Account Spending Plan
Proposition 30, The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012, approved by the voters on November 6, 2012, temporarily increases the states sales tax rate for all taxpayers and the personal income tax rates for upper-income taxpayers.
Proposition 30 did not increase school funding; due to Proposition 30 school funding was not cut further. Funds from Proposition 30 replace some of the general state funding normally received by schools.
Proposition 30 requires that all schools spend these funds according to the following provisions:
The Governing Board of Nord Country School held an open, public meeting on March 13, 2013 and revisited the decision in June 11, 2014 to discuss the uses of the Proposition 30 EPA funds. It was determined at this meeting that the funds would be used for the salary and benefit costs of classroom teachers. This decision is reviewed annually during the Initial Budget adoption process.

- The spending plan must be approved by the governing board during a public meeting
- EPA funds cannot be used for the salaries or benefits of administrators or any other administrative costs
- Annually, the school must publish on its website an accounting of how much money was received from the EPA and how the funds were spent
