Guadalupe Ramirez-Carrillo, Special education
Hello everyone, I’m excited to meet you and look forward to seeing you on campus!. I was Born in Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at the age of eight, not knowing a single word of English. I come from a large family of 15. I have attended and graduated from CSU,Chico for my three degrees. I have a degree in journalism with an option in public relations (1994), a multiple subject/bilingual teaching credential in Spanish (2004), and a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist Credential in Special Education (2017). I am blessed with a wonderful husband whom I have been married to for 30 years, and four beautiful children. Unfortunately, in 2007, we suffered the loss of our year and half old baby son, Emiliano Sebastian. In 2010, we were blessed with our fourth child, a little girl who was born with down syndrome. Honoring our son and my patron saint, we named her Emilia Guadalupe. Emilia has brought so much joy to our lives, daily helping us to see the beauty of her unconditional love for life. Her perseverance is endless and contagious. I consider the blessing of her in my life to be my motivator to help empower and be the voice and advocate for parents of children with special needs, especially the underprivileged! My passion for life is big! My motto is that although life deals us many challenges and opportunities, it is what we make of those that is important. I enjoy spending time with my family, caring for my elderly mother, staying fit, and, when I can squeeze it in, paper crafting. I love the joy it brings me to create something beautiful to share with others!
