Morning Academic Program
We begin each morning by saluting the flag and singing a patriotic song in the front courtyard of our school. The whole school gathers daily to share a story, discuss important issues and upcoming events, learn about our character trait of the month, and celebrate student accomplishments and birthdays (we sing in English and in Spanish!). This is a great way for us to meet as a whole school and foster a community spirit.
Our mornings are where most of our academics are covered. The students learn math and language arts through a variety of avenues. There are lots of songs and poems, art projects, and plays to get them to explore content creatively. I also incorporate group work, small group instruction, and partner activities. This ensures that the students needs are being met in a safe and loving way. Our morning is enriched by having many special adults in the room to help provide individualized attention. Mrs. Aceves is our regular co-teacher. Our classroom is also fortunate enough to have tons of regular parents who volunteers their time.
Our goal is to both instruct and inspire a love of learning in our students. We want to see them grow in their knowledge and creativity.
