Ms. Sara Cervantes, Fourth Grade
I was raised in the small farm town of Colusa, California. My passion for teaching all began when I was in third grade, where my aspirations grew to become a part of the educational journey for others. After high school, I was accepted into a rigorous teaching program called Integrated Teacher CORE (ITC) at California State University, Chico, allowing me to simultaneously earn my Bachelors Degree and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in May of 2011. My adventure in teaching began as a Resource Intervention Teacher here at Nord Country School in 2012. For three years, I learned a multitude of programs beneficial to student learning of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, and mathematical mindsets. In 2015, I was overwhelmed with excitement to be able to bring all of these wonderful tools, strategies, and programs into my very own classroom as a Fourth Grade teacher! This will be my 10th year teaching at NCS, and my 7th year teaching fourth grade, which is the most spectacular grade level of them all! I love creating lessons that allow students to truly make connections with what they are learning and applying them to the real world. I find it is so important to help students discover their path in flourishing as lifelong learners, and becoming more confident with themselves and their capabilities. A few of my favorite things when not in the classroom are traveling to new places and visiting family in Europe. You can find me anywhere from the beach to the mountains; I’ll take every chance to watch the sunset. Music is something I love bringing into our classroom to support my student’s learning.
